[ Upstream commit f5e9bda03a ]
When orientation switch is enabled in ucsi glink, there is a xhci
probe failure seen when booting up in host mode in reverse
orientation.
During bootup the following things happen in multiple drivers:
a) DWC3 controller driver initializes the core in device mode when the
dr_mode is set to DRD. It relies on role_switch call to change role to
host.
b) QMP driver initializes the lanes to TYPEC_ORIENTATION_NORMAL as a
normal routine. It relies on the typec_switch_set call to get notified
of orientation changes.
c) UCSI core reads the UCSI_GET_CONNECTOR_STATUS via the glink and
provides initial role switch to dwc3 controller.
When booting up in host mode with orientation TYPEC_ORIENTATION_REVERSE,
then we see the following things happening in order:
a) UCSI gives initial role as host to dwc3 controller ucsi_register_port.
Upon receiving this notification, the dwc3 core needs to program GCTL from
PRTCAP_DEVICE to PRTCAP_HOST and as part of this change, it asserts GCTL
Core soft reset and waits for it to be completed before shifting it to
host. Only after the reset is done will the dwc3_host_init be invoked and
xhci is probed. DWC3 controller expects that the usb phy's are stable
during this process i.e., the phy init is already done.
b) During the 100ms wait for GCTL core soft reset, the actual notification
from PPM is received by ucsi_glink via pmic glink for changing role to
host. The pmic_glink_ucsi_notify routine first sends the orientation
change to QMP and then sends role to dwc3 via ucsi framework. This is
happening exactly at the time GCTL core soft reset is being processed.
c) When QMP driver receives typec switch to TYPEC_ORIENTATION_REVERSE, it
then re-programs the phy at the instant GCTL core soft reset has been
asserted by dwc3 controller due to which the QMP PLL lock fails in
qmp_combo_usb_power_on.
d) After the 100ms of GCTL core soft reset is completed, the dwc3 core
goes for initializing the host mode and invokes xhci probe. But at this
point the QMP is non-responsive and as a result, the xhci plat probe fails
during xhci_reset.
Fix this by passing orientation switch to available ucsi instances if
their gpio configuration is available before ucsi_register is invoked so
that by the time, the pmic_glink_ucsi_notify provides typec_switch to QMP,
the lane is already configured and the call would be a NOP thus not racing
with role switch.

Some DELL systems don't like UCSI_ACK_CC_CI commands with the
UCSI_ACK_CONNECTOR_CHANGE but not the UCSI_ACK_COMMAND_COMPLETE
bit set. The current quirk still leaves room for races because
it requires two consecutive ACK commands to be sent.
Refactor and significantly simplify the quirk to fix this:
Send a dummy command and bundle the connector change ack with the
command completion ack in a single UCSI_ACK_CC_CI command.
This removes the need to probe for the quirk.
While there define flag bits for struct ucsi_acpi->flags in ucsi_acpi.c
and don't re-use definitions from ucsi.h for struct ucsi->flags.

The DisplayPort driver's sysfs nodes may be present to the userspace before
typec_altmode_set_drvdata() completes in dp_altmode_probe. This means that
a sysfs read can trigger a NULL pointer error by deferencing dp->hpd in
hpd_show or dp->lock in pin_assignment_show, as dev_get_drvdata() returns
NULL in those cases.
Remove manual sysfs node creation in favor of adding attribute group as
default for devices bound to the driver. The ATTRIBUTE_GROUPS() macro is
not used here otherwise the path to the sysfs nodes is no longer compliant
with the ABI.

The PPM on some Dell laptops seems to expect that the ACK_CC_CI
command to clear the connector change notification is in turn
followed by another ACK_CC_CI to acknowledge the ACK_CC_CI command
itself. This is in violation of the UCSI spec that states:
"The only notification that is not acknowledged by the OPM is
the command completion notification for the ACK_CC_CI or the
PPM_RESET command."
Add a quirk to send this ack anyway.
Apply the quirk to all Dell systems.
On the first command that acks a connector change send a dummy
command to determine if it runs into a timeout. Only activate
the quirk if it does. This ensure that we do not break Dell
systems that do not need the quirk.

Since the merge of b717dfbf73 ("Revert "usb: typec: tcpm: fix

Elite/Firefly has died during boot, the main symptom observed in testing
is a sudden stop in console output. Gábor Stefanik identified in review
that the patch would cause power to be removed from devices without
batteries (like this board), observing that while the patch is correct
according to the spec this appears to be an oversight in the spec.
Given that the change makes previously working systems unusable let's
revert it, there was some discussion of identifying systems that have

In case of a spurious or otherwise delayed notification it is
possible that CCI still reports the previous completion. The
UCSI spec is aware of this and provides two completion bits in
CCI, one for normal commands and one for acks. As acks and commands
alternate the notification handler can determine if the completion
bit is from the current command.
The initial UCSI code correctly handled this but the distinction
between the two completion bits was lost with the introduction of
the new API.
To fix this revive the ACK_PENDING bit for ucsi_acpi and only complete
commands if the completion bit matches.

On some OEM systems, adding a W7900 dGPU triggers RAS errors and hangs
at a black screen on startup. This issue occurs only if `ucsi_acpi` has
loaded before `amdgpu` has loaded. The reason for this failure is that
`amdgpu` uses power_supply_is_system_supplied() to determine if running
on AC or DC power at startup. If this value is reported incorrectly the
dGPU will also be programmed incorrectly and trigger errors.
power_supply_is_system_supplied() reports the wrong value because UCSI
power supplies provided as part of the system don't properly report the
scope as "DEVICE" scope (not powering the system).
In order to fix this issue check the capabilities reported from the UCSI
power supply to ensure that it supports charging a battery and that it can
be powered by AC. Mark the scope accordingly.

Delivery v2 and SVDM v1, we currently send PD v2 messages with SVDM v2.0,
expecting the port partner to respond with its highest supported SVDM
version as stated in Section 6.4.4.2.3 in the Power Delivery v3
specification. However, sending SVDM v2 to some Power Delivery v2 port
partners results in a NAK whereas sending SVDM v1 does not.
NAK messages can be handled by the initiator (PD v3 section 6.4.4.2.5.1),
and one solution could be to resend Discover Identity on a lower SVDM
version if possible. But, Section 6.4.4.3 of PD v2 states that "A NAK
response Should be taken as an indication not to retry that particular
Command."
Instead, we can set the SVDM version to the maximum one supported by the
negotiated PD revision. When operating in PD v2, this obeys Section
6.4.4.2.3, which states the SVDM field "Shall be set to zero to indicate
Version 1.0." In PD v3, the SVDM field "Shall be set to 01b to indicate
Version 2.0."

When connecting to some DisplayPort partners, the initial status update
after entering DisplayPort Alt Mode notifies that the DFP_D/UFP_D is not in

In current design of the PPS APDO selection, TCPM power supply only
accepts the requested voltage which is inside the range of the selected
PPS profile. To extend the flexibility and usability, remove the checks
about the voltage range in current profile. And try to search all PPS
APDOs of the Source that fit the requested voltage.
Also remove some redundant checks in tcpm_pd_build_pps_request.
