The web YAML editor is gone. agentPreset.write (arbitrary composition
text) became agentPreset.copy { from, agentPreset, name? }: a host-side
whole-directory copy of ids the host resolves itself — symlinks
dereferenced, modes re-tightened to owner-only with owner-execute kept,
metadata rewritten to keep the source's description but never its name or
roster order. No composition text or path crosses the wire in either
authoring direction, and the entryListSchema/!!js concern dissolves with
assertComposition itself.
The settings section becomes: a read-only viewer over shipped
compositions, a copy dialog (id + optional display name) as the only
create entry, delete for custom rows, and a location action leading into
the preset's own files — agentPreset.openDocument { agentPreset } resolves
the directory host-side and opens it natively, or answers
{ opened: false, path } for the row to show as text where the deployment
has no desktop. agentPreset.list reports hasDocument beside authorable;
the gateway's nativeOpen config pins the capability where
canOpenNativePath platform detection would mislead. The privileged set is
now read/copy/openDocument/remove.
With files as the only composition editor, standing mounts grew
stamp-keyed generations: ensureStanding compares the composition file's
mtime+size and starts the next generation for later sessions, while every
joined session keeps the generation it runs on.
New keyless web lane (agent-preset-authoring, overlay pins
nativeOpen: false so goldens render one branch on every platform) drives
view/copy/reveal/delete end to end; the real-composition CLI e2e switches
to copy semantics.
20 files, each +2 lines: the label icon and 标准模式 in the banner — the DOM
the label fix makes appear for sessions created in-tab, which these goldens
recorded the absence of.
Authoring meets standing mounts: write() and remove() drop the standing
pointer so the NEXT session composes the edited roster, while every session
already joined keeps the generation it runs on — a superseded generation is
never disposed while the process lives. The settings-dialog golden re-records
with this layer's Agent Preset nav entry, which the incoming layer-3 record
had overwritten.
The composer's preset seat stays removed here — this layer moved it to the
hero chip and the session-header action — so only the model seat takes the
`modelSeatLocked` narrowing master introduced.

The Client API carrier's `agentPresets` member was the one member of its class
without an `IApiClient[...]` annotation. Inferring it inlined `AgentPresetEntry`
into the emitted declaration by the specifier TS picks — the host `index.ts` —
dragging the whole gateway, and with it the host `Context` merges, into every
Client program importing the carrier. Annotated like its siblings.
`ApiRemoteAgentOptions.setup` now takes the inspected session rather than its
header alone: this layer resolves a resumed session's preset from the LOG,
because a session that switched while blank ran its turns under the newer
composition and the header is written once at creation.

Master added this scenario while this branch was open, so its golden froze
the composer seat's "Select model" fallback. The scaffold's route-only
adapter (added here for fixture-less scenarios) makes the seat resolve the
model those scenarios actually route to, which is what the other eight
goldens on this branch already show. Only the two seat lines move.
**Reasoning effort leaves the provider cards entirely.** It is a per-MODEL
capability and the models under one provider disagree about which levels
they accept: setting `anthropic` to `max` made six of its eight models
throw UNSUPPORTED_REASONING_EFFORT, and because the catalog build catches
per provider, the whole provider vanished from the picker behind one error
row. A provider-scoped control can only ever be set to a value some of its
models reject.
The composer's model picker already offers each model its own levels, and
a switch there now records provider, model, and effort together as the
next session's default — so the setting has a better home at the right
granularity. The profile field stays in `settings.yaml` for a deployment
that knows its route; only the control is gone, from both cards and both
adapter families. Two `components.spec` cases used the control as the
vehicle for their op assertions and now use `baseURL`, which is what they
were actually testing.
**A rejected Provider ID now reads as a fault.** It shared the neutral
hint paragraph with the field's guidance, so the copy telling the user
what they got wrong looked like advice. Reuses the existing `.error`
style, matching the split the key field already makes.
The lower layer names the preset in the session header; this one moves the
choice to the new-session chip and leaves the header a read-only label, so the
merged goldens carried a label these screens no longer show.
Every changed golden gains only the preset label and the settings row's copy —
78 insertions, no deletions — which is this layer's surface appearing where it
was always going to appear.
A default naming a route the Models page has since removed left the
composer saying 选择模型 while the input still accepted a message, which
then failed inside the adapter mid-turn.
`session.prompt` now refuses with `model-unavailable` before opening a
turn. That is the enforcement boundary: the method stays callable no
matter what a client disables. `session.models` reports the same fact as
`routable`, and ui-model pushes a block through the new
`ctx.conversation.blocks` registry so the bar renders the disabled
textarea it already renders without a workspace, carrying the blocker's
own reason. The push direction is forced — ui-model already depends on
ui-conversation, so ui-conversation cannot read it back.
The gate is `routable`, not "matches no advertised group": catalog
membership is advisory, so a route serving a model it stopped advertising
is missing from the groups yet perfectly usable, and `null` before the
first load never blocks so a slow Host cannot lock a working composer.
The scaffold gains a route-only adapter for fixture-less keyless
scenarios. Registering zero providers is a test artifact — every product
composition mounts one — and the goldens that froze the seat's fallback
label now show the model those scenarios actually route to.
Master's credential-lifecycle work taught the editor card that a pi-ai
profile names `apiKeyEnv` only when a key is actually stored, so a route
left blank keeps its provider-native auth path. The create card kept
writing the derived reference unconditionally, so a route declared for a
credential chain or ADC was born pointing at a reference nothing sets —
and now rendered a red missing-key dot for it.
Both cards apply one rule. The obsolete assertion moves with the behavior
(the with-key case is covered by the neighbouring test), and the merged
Models e2e golden shows the declared route unmarked rather than flagged.
A row's stored profile could not tell a hand-declared gateway from a
shipped provider whose models someone narrowed — both look identical from
outside the adapter — so the Models page had no way to mark the routes a
deployment added itself.
The directory entry now carries `declared`, answered by the owning adapter
against its own installed catalog, and the page renders a Custom tag from
it. Absence stays "this adapter draws no such distinction" rather than
"shipped", so a route no adapter claims is labelled neither way.
Also records the default-route work's Agent Note and the e2e evidence for
all three changes: the composer switch writing the section, and the Models
page declaring a route with its own reasoning effort.
The preference row rendered `option.id` while every other surface — the
new-session chip, the session header label, the preset cards — renders the
metadata name. So the same roster read `标准模式` on one screen and `standard`
on the next, and the id is addressing, not a label. A preset that names itself
nothing still falls back to its id, which is then all there is to say about it.
The row's Chinese copy also still ended on the English word: the section is
`Agent 预设`, so the sentence about a running session keeping its composition
says 预设 too.
Code Mode was a deployment-wide field on the host `tools` row: a
deployment ran every session that way or none. The obvious product
shape — 代码模式 beside 标准/极简/创造 in the preset picker — had
nothing to hang on.
The registry itself cannot move into a preset; the agent loop's
scheduler, the api-proxy's presenters, and every tool plugin are its
consumers. So split the registry from its projection: `presentAs(mode)`
writes one cell on the calling agent's scope layer, exactly as
`restrict()` does, and the three reads that decided presentation take
that scope's mode instead of the service's. The config `mode` becomes
the default agents shadow rather than a process-wide fact.
Two consequences are load-bearing. `run_code` now enters a view only
for scopes whose own mode presents it — a native agent must not find it
dispatchable because another agent in the process does — and the
reserved name holds whatever the configured mode, since any agent may
select a code mode later.
`dsh-agent-tool-mode` is the row a preset carries to declare this. A
code mode waits for the host's `codeRuntime` rather than assuming it,
so a runtime-less deployment fails the preset at mount, naming the
row, instead of at the session's first request.
The shipped `code` preset is `standard` plus that row, ordered second.
The browser e2e lane had been failing wholesale since this stack moved the
agent plane into presets, and nothing caught it: 34 of 48 files. Two of the
causes are product defects, not test breakage.
`bashEnv` goes back to the host plane. `apps/cli/src/web.ts` injects it to
publish `DSH_WEB_URL`/`DSH_WEB_MODE`, so the earlier note that "nothing outside
the agent plane injects bashEnv" was simply wrong — behind a preset's `shell`
realm those variables reached no shell at all, and a `dsh web` agent could not
find the address of its own interface. This is the same criterion that returned
`subagents`: a host row that injects a service resolves before any session
exists and has no agent to key by, so the service is host-plane. `tool-bash`
consumes the host registry from inside the preset, which works because an
agent context chains to the host; only the reverse is invisible.
`tool-subagent-report` goes back with it. It is not a tool this agent calls: it
registers a continuable SETUP on the host `subagents` singleton, and that list
is not scope-aware. One copy per mounted preset meant every child was handed
`report` once per live session, so the second registration threw and a cold
subagent resume failed with `subagent-not-resumable` — a diagnostic three
layers removed from the cause.
The lane's own composition facts follow. Skill roots resolve inside a preset
now, a subtree include patches cannot reach, so the scaffold pins the roots'
documented environment fallback for its whole lifetime rather than for the boot
— presets mount per session. Without it the developer's real `~/.dsh/skills`
enters replay requests and goldens while CI sees none. The `apps/cli`
composition test pins `storage-json` for the same reason: unpinned it wrote,
and then read back, the developer's own `~/.dsh/storages/`.
Three tests now address through an agent what they used to read off the root
context, because that is where the thing lives: the tool catalog, the skill
registry, and the token meter. The seeded-history projection baseline asserts
the opposite of what it did — a detached session yields a preset-plane
projection only from a durable checkpoint written while it was live, and this
seed was written straight to persistence and never ran.
Goldens re-recorded for the hero's preset chip and the settings nav entry.
The composer seat spent nearly all its life disabled: a session's
composition is fixed once a turn has run. Move the choice to the
new-session screen beside the workspace picker, where it still works,
and let the session header report what a running session runs.
The hero pick is staged rather than applied — that screen precedes the
session it belongs to. It lands when a session becomes current and is
still blank, which covers both the session a workspace connect creates
and the blank one it reuses; riding `sessions.create` would miss the
second. It is spent on first use, matching the workspace picker.
Fix the durability the header field claimed but never had: `agentPreset`
was declared on `SessionHeader` and dropped by the JSONL header line, the
SQLite sessions row, the derived query index, and the cold list
projection, so every resumed session came back composed from nothing.
Add the web e2e lane that would have caught it — the one lane that mounts
the shipped roster, which needed `cordis:group` in the scaffold's Loader
builtins, as `mountRootInclude` already registers.
